4 – Farming As An Allegory For Power

A few weeks ago, I came across a book called the "One Straw Revolution." Short summary: A farmer in Japan does not till or plow the land, yet his yields per acre are equal if not better to farms that till and plow the land. Additionally, he uses no pesticide or fertilizer. Assuming the goal of human Farming is to achieve something close to a maximum yield of food per acre: How would a society that treats the land as "whole" and not in need of human interference to achieve maximum yield differ from a society that believes [...]

5 – Reasonable Truth & Legal Systems

The book I am currently reading is possibly the most complex book I have ever read. Page skimming is not possible. Too many legal terms. Summary "Absolutism in Renaissance Milan shows how authority above the law, once the preserve of pope and emperor, was claimed by the ruling Milanese dynasties, the Visconti and the Sforza, and why this privilege was finally abandoned by Francesco II Sforza (d. 1535), the last duke." These are personal dreams that are not shared. 2 - Shared Dreams - dreams dreamt by many, accessed by many. If you are in a [...]

7 – Llyrian Table Culture

As I mentioned in some previous posts, one of my motivations for creating this world, is to think about how to create community trough communal experiences that are not dependent on invisible ideology. What if food or the senses of body or even music were the places we create community from? How could I do this in a fantasy world? In Llyria, when you use the word "Table" you are referring to "Table Culture". Unlike the word cuisine which refers mainly to the flavors, ingredients and methods of preparation, "Table Culture" refers to cuisine and includes: agricultural practices, [...]
